Brutal lol.
I like the direction a bit of late. However, I destroy decisions made by GM’s on 90% teams.
Believe it was 2017. Drafted two safeties. Adams and Williams or Maye can’t remember which one with first two picks.
2018 was the Darnold pick. Personally he was not even a draft able player on my board. However, I’m real picky with QBs. Rarely will I have more than 3 draftable QBs. But whatever, they went with him
2019 Williams Bama kid.
2020 I remember well. Went Becton over Wirfs. You never doubt a Iowa Player especially O line. And the. mims! You never draft a Baylor WR, I learned this years ago with Antwan Goodley. Go down to Texas Tech for a Flyer on a WR. Then follow it up with Davis the safety (liked the kid). Not sure what else they got. But do remember Hall CB Virginia real late. Excellent pick.
2021 they go Wilson and Tucker. Then Moore and the Carter boys RB/S. Not that bad. Reaching for Tucker imo traded back up.
2022 like what they did! Absolutely love the Hall pick. Possibly Jonathan Taylor 2.0. I pounded the table for the Bulls to trade back up for Hall along with KC Phi LAC as perfect fits for those teams.
I bet if you go back and look from 2017 to 2021 the jets who had some draft capital probably only have 2-3 significant players still on the roster. Probably only 5-6 total with most of them 2021 guys.
Investing in two safety rd 1 and 2. To then let them walk and to replace them with other less caliber safety picks. Drafting Darnold to trade him but say he has no talent around him to then take another QB and then you decide to draft RB WR OL guys to surround the new QB with talent. They could have gotten a fortune trading 2nd pick, kept Darnold and added draft capital along with weapons for Darnold. I think Darnold sucks but I didn’t Draft him.
Now the jets dump $ into FA safeties to go along with Draft picks into the position. Joyner Whitehead Davis. Huge downgrade.. They dump $ into the O line because they are sweating the draft picks. Which is fine, can never have too much o line. More the better. Let crowder walk because they invested in Mims Moore Wilson. To go along with the huge Davis WR signing. Way over paid for CJ and Conk at TE. But at least addressing the situation.
Organization is just running circles. Either commit or blow it all up. Work inside out with youth. OL DL and then work in to help QB. Way too much wasted drafts capital past few years. Bitching FA signings also. They had a shot to really capitalize 3 years ago. Thankfully they addressed the draft well this year.
Personally I’d had Wirfs two years ago. But this year I would have traded out of 10 with NO or PHI or KC or GB. The market was right for premium WR. Easy deal and extra picks especially teams like Phi KC GB who had way to many picks and can’t afford all of them anyway. Then scooped up a Johnson Penning Linderbaum 1-2 of those for my o line. I’m calling Baltimore for Ben Cleveland or Ben Grubbs for their service on the cheap at guard. Then trading back into RD 1 28-32 for Hall to get ahead of Tampa ATL Hou type teams who wiyuld probably be eyeing him. They got Hall rd 2 though. I’d reached a bit. WR help can be found later. Worry more about that next year. Davis Moore give me a pierce Pickens type bigger body WR. Slot guys can be created. Follow up with big body athletic TE kohlar. Work off that and into next year to tighten up team see where areas need to be fixed.
I think jets are 7-9 win team few breaks their way. 2023 the noise maker year if things get addressed right
